650 Lincoln

For many universities, campus housing competes with privately-developed housing situated off-campus. Some schools respond by providing newer and better amenities in order to lure students back. This can be an expensive game, however, so the University of South Carolina, when faced with demand for additional student beds, decided to co-opt private investment by inviting developers to develop university lands. 650 Lincoln is one such development. It provides 900 beds in apartment style units and features ground-level retail on urban streetscapes, a public plaza, an elevated pool deck and outdoor living spaces. Jonathan was this project’s landscape architect as a principal at Ayers Saint Gross.
