Merion Ridge
This clustering of contemporary residences uses density to promote a sense of community with a shared parking court and a central rain garden–as well as to preserve mature woodlands on the majority of this steeply sloping site adjacent to downtown Conshohoken. Our urban design strategy derives from classic woonerf streetscapes (with flexible shared-use zones for pedestrians and vehicles) and from the historic regional typology of the rural hamlet (with clustered residences and farm buildings comprising a compact townscape). The undeveloped woodland is transformed into a public amenity with a restored stream and future public greenway connection.
