Chevy Chase Residence

This design for a small lot in Chevy Chase knits together indoor and outdoor spaces into a cohesive environment for family living. New plantings at the edges of the property provide enhanced privacy, while a new front garden enhances the front elevation of the house with better planted structure and four seasons of horticultural interest. A new hardwood terrace functions as a convenient extension of the first floor for entertaining guests and outdoor cooking. Broad hardwood treads extend the length of the terrace for an easy connection down to the back yard. A grove of cherry trees flanks the terrace and in springtime envelops the sunny breakfast room in a cloud of pink blossoms. Tucked behind the cherries, a handsome parking court provides off-street parking and doubles as a basketball court. At the far end of the property, a densely-planted children’s garden provides a feast for the senses and a setting for imaginative play.
