Georgetown University | Ryan Hall Courtyard
Over the last several decades, infill development has brought greater density to the campus core. As part of a renovation of two historic buildings, Georgetown University converted a small parking area and service court into an outdoor courtyard for the benefit of student residents. The landscape design incorporates the traditional campus palette of brick and limestone but with clean minimal detailing so as to celebrate the uniqueness of the historic architecture, while creating a calming, ordered space in an otherwise busy urban setting. Careful grading design allowed for near universal access and a central lawn for informal gathering or special events.
