Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab | Campus Green
The Applied Physics Lab is a unique research park situated in Laurel, Maryland. It has long contributed to cutting edge research in diverse areas effecting national security and public health and was a partner institution on the Manhattan Project. The Lab is comprised of a series of departments organized around discrete mission areas. Historically, the campus provided little opportunity for collaboration in the form of a shared physical space. This project is the first in a series of campus improvements aimed at providing a home for the institution’s separate research groups to mix and collaborate. The new dining terrace is immersed in a lushly planted space with signature monolithic walls and water runnels that come alive after rainfall. Jonathan was the landscape architect for this project while employed at Ayers Saint Gross.
