Midtown Parks
This design study reimagines two neglected lots in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon district as parklets that contribute meaningfully to the life of the neighborhood. Modest investments in site furniture and edge protection reclaim both spaces as pedestrian-oriented open spaces fit for human occupancy. Rotating public art and selective investment in horticulture provide smart curation of both sites as hubs for showcasing the arts and produce of local artisans. Sidewalk markings and strategic wayfinding graphics provide subtle signals that promote pedestrian-use, dog-walkers and bicyclists.
