North Harford

North Harford Park is a community park situated in northwest Baltimore. Its fields and courts serve a diverse set of neighborhoods, providing important recreational resources in an area where access to open green space can be very limited. The park suffers from overuse, with neglected repairs, vandalism and scant maintenance resources all taking their toll on the quality of the park experience. Baltimore City Recreation and Parks has engaged our team to develop a Vision Plan for the park, engaging the surrounding community in a series of workshops to understand needs and aspirations and to engage nearby residents in the design process. Alternative design concepts were developed to test fit various combinations of activities including playground, skateboard park, paved courts and preserved open green space. The vision plan will provide a blueprint for phased implementation with JCLA set to move into a detailed technical design phase immediately following the master planning task.
