West Covington Park
West Covington Park on the Middle Branch river in Baltimore was a contaminated brownfield site. The remediation design provided a layered soil cap and a set of public improvements including shoreline trails, overlooks with custom seating and a fishing pier. The restored landscape is heavily planted with natives and intended to serve as a stopping point for birds migrating along the Mid-Atlantic flyway. The planting design was calibrated for a low/no-maintenance regime following the establishment period and anticipates some degree of ecological succession. Jonathan served as project director, lead designer and landscape architect for this project, completing this project while practicing at Ayers Saint Gross.
